Key Roles and Responsabilities

Position Summary:
The Allergy Lab Technician will aid and assist with filling and preparing prescriptions for allergen immunotherapy for patients as ordered by physicians.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Lab Technician’s duties include but are not limited to:

• Serum Preparation:
  • Mixing serums for individual patient vials, and stock vials for office orders.
• Temperature Monitoring:
  • Daily monitoring and recording of refrigerator temperatures.
• Stock Management:
  • Conducting frequent checks on stock vials used for office orders (morning and afternoon).
  • Tracking supplies for mixing, monitoring expiration dates, and notifying when restocking is needed.
• Aseptic Technique:
  • Ensuring aseptic practices, including proper handwashing, cleansing treatment vials, and disinfecting the mixing area.
• PPE and Safety Compliance:
  • Wearing appropriate PPE (cap, gown, gloves, and mask) during mixing.
  • Proper disposal of needles in sharps containers and monitoring fill levels daily to ensure timely disposal.
• Lab Maintenance:
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly lab area.
  • Documenting daily logs and maintaining records.
  • Managing inventory and equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following education or certification requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry
• Pharmacy Technician certification
• Laboratory Technician certification
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Registered Nurse (RN)
