Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and skilled Medical Assistant to join our Allergy and Immunology Clinic as a float staff member. In this role, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support across multiple clinic locations. Your work will be integral to helping our team deliver high-quality care to patients with allergic conditions. This position offers the opportunity to work in various clinical settings, allowing you to gain diverse experience while supporting a wide range of patient needs.

Key Roles and Responsabilities

Patient Intake, Preparation, and Clinical Support: 

  • Prepare patients for their visits, including taking detailed medical histories, recording vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and documenting allergy symptoms.
  • Assist with patient flow by ensuring that exam rooms are prepared and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Assist physicians during allergy testing, such as skin prick, intradermal, and patch tests, following the protocols of each clinic.
  • Administer routine injections and assist with allergy immunotherapy under the direction of healthcare providers.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after procedures, providing support as needed.

Patient Education and Communication: 

  • Provide patients with clear instructions and education regarding their treatment plans, including medication usage, allergy management strategies, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure patients understand how to properly use prescribed medications, such as inhalers and epinephrine auto-injectors.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure consistent care across different locations.

Administrative Duties: 

  • Schedule appointments, manage patient referrals, and coordinate follow-up visits across multiple offices.
  • Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and other communications in a professional and timely manner.

Clinic Operations and Compliance: 

  • Ensure each clinic is well-organized and stocked with necessary medical supplies and equipment.
  • Adhere to clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including infection control and patient confidentiality (HIPAA), across all locations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Travel and Flexibility: 

  • Travel between multiple clinic locations as needed, providing consistent and reliable support across the network.
  • Adapt quickly to different environments, managing time effectively to meet the needs of each clinic.

Qualifications

Education and Certification: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in an allergy, immunology, or related clinical setting.
  • Experience with administering injections, allergy testing, and patient education is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong clinical and administrative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in patient care and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and engage patients effectively.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other clinic management software.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in multiple clinic environments, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Willingness to travel between clinic locations as needed, with reliable transportation.
