Discovering you have an allergy to something after eating it or breathing it in can be a very serious matter. Depending on the severity, your ability to see, breathe, or swallow can greatly diminish, and at that point, time is of the essence. It's imperative to receive immediate medical attention, and once the swelling or reaction has subsided, it's important to take precautions for the future. At Houston ENT & Allergy in Sugar Land, we can provide allergy testing to see what things you're allergic to, and what allergens - such as certain foods - you need to avoid at all costs.
Certain allergies, such as those to ragweed and certain tree pollens, may not become severe until later in life. You may have never had a serious reaction to an allergen before, but now, you experience itchy eyes, runny nose, and scratchy throat every time you're exposed to it. Following inhalation or ingestion, your body reacts in various ways to the allergen, and unless you know how to counteract it, you'll most likely have to wait it out. Our team of ENT experts can properly diagnose your allergies and provide the necessary medication or remedy, so you won't have to worry about a serious reaction.
If you're experiencing sensitivity to an allergen that hadn't bothered you before, such as pet dander or a certain food, please come see us right away. Our allergy testing procedures are very thorough, and can provide an explanation for a sudden increase in allergen sensitivity or reactions.
