UTMB-ACP Committee Member, 1999-2000- One of five medical residents chosen from UTMB house staff. Involved in organizing medical events with other medicine programs, including Baylor and UT-Houston.  Planned recruitment fair, clinical vingette, and medical jeopardy competitions.

 

Residency House Staff Recruitment Committee, 1998-99- Actively participated in recruitment of incoming first year medical residents.  Included organizing lunches, tours, and discussion groups for interviewing candidates.  Reviewed applications and made recommendations to Faculty Recruitment Committee.

 

Internal Medicine "Faculty of the Year" Committee, 1998-99- One of ten house staff selected to review nominations and determine outstanding faculty of the year.  Other committee members included student representatives, faculty representatives, and the Chairman of the Department of Medicine.

 

Residency House Staff Committee, 1997-98- Elected by medicine colleagues to represent the views of the internal medicine intern class. Committee consisted of six medicine residents, chief residents, medicine program director and chair of Internal Medicine Department.  Meetings were bi-monthly to address house staff concerns.

 

Southern Methodist University Student Body Secretary, 1988-89- Elected by student body in campus wide election to serve as one of three student body officers to represent the views of over five thousand students attending Southern Methodist University Undergraduate, Business, and Law Schools.  Duties as officer included leading weekly Senate meetings, which were televised to the Dallas community.  Liased with members of the faculty senate and the university board of trustees.
