Losing the ability to hear sounds clearly can make very frustrating at times, especially in social situations. You try to look at people's lips while they talk, hoping to make out what they're saying to you, but the sounds still come across as muffled or garbled. At Houston ENT & Allergy in Clear Lake, we've met with several patients who have had enough of dealing with hearing loss, and are ready to make a change. Our hearing aid and implant services can restore your ability to hear clearly, as well as restore your confidence as you live your life.

The most common type of permanent hearing loss is sensorineural hearing loss, which affects the inner ear, where the cochlea and the nerve receptors for hearing are located. Once sound reaches the inner ear, these receptors change them into signals that are interpreted by the brain. If you're having trouble hearing faint sounds, or if a person's speech sounds muffled, it's very likely that you are experiencing sensorineural hearing loss. The other type of hearing loss is known as conductive hearing loss, and this affects the outer and middle ear, and is usually brought on by allergies, infections, or swimmer's ear. Conductive hearing loss can often be treated medically and doesn't normally require aids or implants.

If you're tired of experiencing severe hearing loss, visit Houston ENT & Allergy in Clear Lake. We can diagnose the cause behind your hearing problems, and recommend the proper remedy or surgery to help you hear better once more.
