Allergy Treatment Before Traveling Abroad

We've written before about receiving ENT treatment before you travel, but what about international trips? If you have certain allergies or are sensitive to specific foods or scents, it's important to know what you will encounter once your reach your final destination. Foreign countries have different cuisine, customs, and views on food allergies, and you want to be sure that you are safe while you're traveling abroad. At our Southeast Houston ENT clinic, we can help you prepare for your international adventures.

If you will be staying with a friend or host family, let them know before you arrive what allergies you have to certain scents or foods. They will hopefully accommodate your needs in order to make your stay more comfortable. If you're traveling with a guide and they encourage you to try certain foods or to engage with local flora and fauna, explain to them as well as you can about your allergies and what will happen if you touch or ingest a certain substance.
