Sinusitis, Allergies, or a Common Cold?

dreamstime_xxl_11094150As an ENT clinic in Houston, we see and treat patients with all kinds of conditions. It can happen that a patient believes they're suffering from one condition, but in reality, it turns out something else is the source of the problem. One example is a patient who is suffering from a sinus headache. They may feel that sinusitis is to blame when it's actually an allergic reaction that's behind their sinus pain. Before we begin any ENT treatment, we want to be sure what the cause of the problem truly is.

Take Note of Your Symptoms

If your symptoms come and go, it could be your sinuses reacting to an allergen in the environment. If there is constant pain, nasal discharge, or swelling, it's possible sinusitis is to blame. It's important to take note of your symptoms as accurately as you can, so we can begin our diagnosis on the right foot. We don't want to prescribe an antihistamine or a nasal steroid spray if it's not necessary. We'll also discuss how long you've been experiencing symptoms, in order to decide if it's acute sinusitis, chronic sinusitis, or another condition entirely.
