Avoid Allergies This Halloween

dreamstime_xxl_5994336October is now here, and that means every boy and girl will be thinking about what they want to dress up as for Halloween. Mom and dad may also be planning on dressing up, and getting the entire family involved can make the holiday that much more fun. However, if you're allergic to certain foods, materials, or odors, Halloween might not be your favorite holiday. At Houston ENT & Allergy in Pearland, we can make sure you have a fun and safe time, no matter if you're trick or treating or attending a neighborhood party.

Test Your Treats

If you have an allergy to certain candy ingredients, such as gelatin, be sure to find out all you can about certain candies (especially gummy-type treats). If your little one has food allergies, be sure you know what's in their basket so you can avoid an emergency situation on what is supposed to be a fun night.

Check Your Fabrics and Makeup

Halloween is the perfect time to break out those vintage clothes you have stored away in the basement or attic, but it's important to make sure every garment is clean, since dust and other allergens can bring on a reaction. The same is true for any makeup you plan on using this year – check the ingredients and contact one of our allergy specialists to make sure you won't break out in a rash after applying it.

Focus on Fun

We know that everyone wants to have fun on Halloween, and if you take the proper steps to guard against allergies, you'll be able to focus on the fun, instead of worrying about a piece of candy or a costume causing a reaction.

Contact our Pearland ENT clinic today to schedule your allergy consultation!
