Safely Treat Your Allergies This Season

March 30th, 2016 | 1 min. read

By Patricia Leonard, MD

Spring is in full swing in Texas, and many Houston residents are likely noticing the return of their seasonal allergies. If you're suffering from congestion, coughing, sneezing, or watery eyes, it's important to find allergy treatment that's both convenient and effective. If over-the-counter (OTC) antihistamines and eye drops have helped in the past, it can be best to try those again, but if they don't seem to be working this year, make an appointment with our ENT clinic in Katy.

Our doctors will thoroughly examine you and diagnose the root cause of your allergies, not just the symptoms. While one medicine or treatment may have worked in the past, your body may be reacting differently to allergens this year, and a change in course may be necessary. It also may be beneficial to make some changes in your daily routine, now that pollen and other allergens are more prevalent in the Texas air. Instead of going for a run through the neighborhood, where your eyes and nose are exposed to irritants, consider renewing that gym membership and running and walking inside for a few months. With the right ENT treatment from our staff, you'll be able to be back outside in no time at all.

If your allergies seem more severe this spring, or OTC treatment don't seem to be working, please schedule a visit to our Katy ENT clinic as soon as possible. We want you to enjoy the new season, not spend it sneezing, coughing, and viewing it through eyes that won't stop watering. Call us today at (281) 649-7000.
